Happy March, everyone! And happy almost spring! Yay!! (Even though as I type this there are several inches of snow on the ground and it's still coming down...)
February was a pretty eventful and busy month for me, which explains why it feels like it came and went so quickly. There was a lot of snow, several birthdays, Valentine's Day, baking, crafting, spreadsheets, planning, ahh! It was a lot, but I enjoyed it all.
1. Anybody else watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills? I watch it every week and often times on the show Yolanda has her hair pulled straight back into a low bun and I always think it's so chic! I've done it a few times like in this picture (and I love it with a scarf) and I always feel put-together, but in an effortless way.
2. My boyfriend ordered a Vitamix recently and it came with an amazing cookbook that we've been reading through and all I want to do is start making smoothies! This was the first time we used it and we made protein pancakes- not too bad :)
3. This bracelet was honestly one that I wasn't sure about at first so this was my first day wearing it and if you follow me on Instagram you would've seen this post, because I absolutely loved it! I felt special all day when I looked down and saw the sparkly pendant peeking out from the back of my wrist :)
4. My boyfriend's birthday was the 13th, so I made him a special birthday breakfast which was strawberry banana cheesecake crepes with fresh strawberry sauce. It was my first time making this except for the day before when I practiced, hehe. I added fresh whipped cream and a candle like his mom always did for him and I have to say, they didn't turn out half bad. He ate every bit of it and keeps asking for it again- win!
5. His birthday cake was a serious labor of love, and even though it didn't look as nice as I had hoped, it tasted amazing! He decided on an apple cake. It was incredibly moist, full of flavor and a great choice for such a snowy day. I also got him sparkler candles, which were fun, but honestly a little scary, haha.
6. On Valentine's Day my boyfriend surprised me with a trip to DC, Pentagon City and reservations at our favorite restaurant because we rarely get to go anymore. I'm glad that I looked decent that day because I thought we were spending most of the day at home!
7. We did a no-no and went to Cheesecake Factory last weekend. I can't remember what either of these were called but we got a chocolate/fudge/german chocolate cheesecake and a lemon cake and obviously they were both delicious.
8. I made an impulse buy and got this charcoal face mask by Freeman's and it isn't the kind of face mask you can look cute wearing or that is exactly Instagram worthy (you know what I'm talking about) but it was an exfoliating mask and it was so amazing. I may do a more in depth review soon for you guys.
9. Lastly, I've spend the last week with a cold so I've used almost that entire box of tissues, lots of Vix Vapor Rub, taken a lot of Vitamin C and Sudafed, and drank tons of water and even a couple cups of hot tea. Luckily, I checked my temperature several times and I never had a fever and although I'm not 100% right now, I'm feeling much better!
Switching gears...
I think your bun looks WAY better than Yolanda's :) Also, those crepes look delicious & I love his his cake turned out! It looks so simple but quite professional at the same time! I really enjoyed watching the Oscars as well! Kate Hudson was my best dressed pick of the night, with Lupita close behind! Her speech was so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAw, you're so sweet! I had the hardest time with his cake because the apples made it lumpy all around but the finished product was much better than what it looked like earlier in the day, that's for sure! Kate Hudson looked amazing! I thought about adding her to my list but for the sake of time I just wanted to include my top 3 :)
DeleteLooks like you had a great February. Those crepes are drool worthy! I meant to watch the Oscars but got too wrapped up in House of Cards:)

Haha, thank you! Love Kevin Spacey!
DeleteI wasn't a fan of Kristin Bell's dress either, but I thought Amy looked good (I'm a sucker for navy). Also, Yolanda's on RHOB's hair always looks so effortless, I love the way she styles it.

I love Kristin Bell, too, so I was disappointed that I didn't like her look. I thought Amy looked fine, I just thought she was a little plain, if that makes sense :) Yes, so do I!
DeleteSooo I didn't actually watch the Oscars, but I did look at the fashion after. I loved Jennifer Lawrence - but I am pretty sure that she could wear a paper bag and I would be like "OMG it is fabulous!!" I also loved Lupita, Cate Blanchett and Kate Hudson. Also, will you come make me some crepes? Those look yummy!

Yes ma'am, I can certainly try, haha. Lupita and Kate were two of my favorites too!
DeleteAh some of the beverages in those vita-mix cookbooks look divine - especially some of the cocktails - I must get around to trying one!
ReplyDeleteYes they do! We've made a few milkshakes so far and have really been enjoying them!
